I was watching on FauxNews (i.e. FoxNews) last night. Why? Why would this liberal artist subject himself to such conservative (borderline fascist) television? Well, the Republican primaries debate was on and I had to have a look at what filth might be crawling out of the gutter to take the reins as el presidente.
I already knew a bit about Ron Paul, who I encourage people to vote for if they are eligible to do so. I knew less but enough about Gingrich, his first name says a lot, “Newt”. True to his namesake, this dude seems like a slimey reptile, the blue blooded serpent prince anyone? Doubtful, I’ve seen creepy crawlies with more personality and charm than he.
The other hopefuls seem to be a pack of hope-nots, not very lively or interesting in my opinion some more sinister than others.
Anyway, by now you may know that Ron Paul, despite being a Republican seems like a pretty decent, stand-up kinda guy. He’s all for drug law reform, to declassify cannabis from it’s current illegal status and allowing people their freedom of choice. Also while the rest of the other hopefuls are all pro-war, he deems it unecessary. So it’s clear this liberal republican is going to require all the support he can get. If you were a democrat before, well see if you don’t want to change political affiliation for a little while.
And plus, if Fox hates him, then he’s alright by me!
Their attempted smear campaign to paint this man in a negative light by calling him a racist and claiming he wrote a bunch of racist literature back in the day, I think should be nulled and void. You can see him here at Norml back in the year of my birth, he speaks out against the drug war and denouncing it’s racist roots back in the 30’s.
I’m guessing however, even if this man was to make it to presidency he would probably face a tough trial trying to pass these reform bills through congress.
Watch this video to get a little idea of what they’re working with in the U.S. You see, although the general public’s views have changed drastically, in that the percentage of those who want it legal vs those who don’t, have more or less come on level terms for the first time since the 60’s. Though it would appear congress would still be somewhat of a stumbling block.
That video would make a brilliant ad campaign for pro legalisation, it summarises a whole lot right there.
Of course scaremongerers like Bill O’Reilly on the tele, trying to make sure that his viewers don’t get lead astray by liberals and their evil, crazy talk. Here he is concerned about the states possibly becoming like the Netherlands, which according to the fair and balanced news network is; “a cesspool of corruption…crime, everything is out of control, it’s anarchy.”
They do leave a lot to the imagination, these guys. However, have a look at the video.
What I find all too interesting is how a country which is claimed to be a cesspool of corruption, complete with rampant crime, could now have to shut down a few prisons due to a….what? LACK OF CRIMINALS?!
How very odd…
Beautiful contrasts between the relationships with the prison systems and drugs in let’s say the U.S. and the Nederlands.
In the U.S. the penetentaries are for the most part if not all privatised, so more criminals mean more revenue for the owners of the correctional facilities. Since it’s a crime to buy, sell or possess drugs these days.
Call me crazy for using a politician to support an argument I’m making but here it is:
“This war on drugs has been a detriment to personal liberty and it’s been a real abuse of liberty, Our prisons are full with people who have used drugs who should be treated as patients — and they’re non-violent. Someday we’re gonna awake and find out that the prohibition we are following right now with drugs is no more successful, maybe a lot less successful, than the prohibition of alcohol was in the ’20s.”
Meanwhile on the farm or well the Nederlands.
“During the 1990s the Netherlands faced a shortage of prison cells, but a decline in crime has since led to overcapacity in the prison system. The country now has capacity for 14,000 prisoners but only 12,000 detainees.”
Forgive the language but…How very fucking unusual…one might think. Why is it that there’s such a shortage of criminals or crime. Hmm. How interesting/odd that a country who has a very easy approach to drugs and drug abusers also seem to have a decrease in crime. I’m not going to say drugs make the world go round. Drugs go around and perhaps in a place where they’re more easily accessible and there is no (legal) consequence for dabbling with said drugs then associated criminal element thus no longer exists. That’s one way of looking at it. I’m not your eyes so you view it from whatever distance and in whichever way you deem fit. Through a kaleidscope or rose tinted glasses if you like.
For the full report, you can check the article where this info was brought to me – Netherlands to close prisons for lack of criminals :: archief nrc.nl.
Those are some facts that I brought to the table, do what you like with them. Now it’s illustration time! – yay!
Now, I know I would usually reserve a track for the end of my posts but today we’ll have it in the middle, now all the heavy learning is out of the way. Just images to view now.
This is an all time favourite of mine, and I’ve been listening to it quite often again of late.
As you can see we have a new addition to the Royal Suite – Sensi Shirts of the Herbal T’s brand.
In the image: The Jack holds in his possession a rather large glass pipe with golden bowl and trim. Within the diamonds, is the Herbal T’s logo also in a yellow/gold.
I’ve become quite the fan of playing cards since I’ve started basing my designs on them. Here’s a page out of the sketch book.
I’ve taken to sketching out some of the cards on rolling papers, and currently making a tiny booklet of cards made of the Bambu rolling papers. Bambu’s I find quite harsh on the throat to be honest but they are somehow the choice paper on the island where I’m from. They, as you can see most definitely have the surface area to draw upon. To be certain though, you don’t want to be rolling with the entire paper, that’ll surely do your throat in.
Next on the list is a treecomic, I made it myself. It’s not really funny nor insightful. However, I thought it was appropriate when I made it….semi-truthful.
The only way this could make maybe a tad bit of sense if you refer to the previous post where I dropped the corresponding track.
Not in the way of begging but, encouraging you lot to review the last few posts. Some rather good or interesting information there.

Self promotion is a biznatch, but it has to be done.
Upcoming projects: Working on a collage of influential people to me and my research and journey through illustration and art etc. – A look at Jon Sinclair for one. Mentioned in the title of this post. Carl Sagan, another.
That’s all for now folks,
